A panel of speakers will include lawyers who have influenced the lawmaking process in a variety of ways including service as a legislator or on legislative workgroups, testifying on bills, and representing clients' interests in the legislative process. This class is a must-attend for anyone who is interested in how to use the legislative process to improve the law or advocate on behalf of clients. Speakers include Representative Karin Power, a legislator from District 41 and who also serves as Associate General Counsel with The Freshwater Trust, a Portland-based environmental nonprofit organization that protects and restores freshwater ecosystems; Chanpone Sinlapasai, partner at Marandas & Sinlapasai PC and Chair of the Oregon Commission on Asian and Pacific Islander Affairs; and Judy Parker, Attorney at Law, and former Commissioner on the Oregon Commission on Hispanic Affairs. Liani Reeves, Bullard Law, will moderate the panel.
